Let me decide what I want to study!!!!

Education teaches people to think and articulate. Education is a free flow of knowledge. Education is the asset which the mankind possess for itself to think and act.

Recent deletion of some cartoons from NCERT textbooks throws light on what students should learn and who decides that "what" they should learn. First of all, education is transmission of knowledge without flavour. Whatever is true and exactly happened has to be interpreted. You teach children what actually happened and how the world reacted to it. Children have to analyse and conclude what they feel right. This is real education and not what is followed in our country.

The education system we follow is pathetic. The textbooks prescribed for students for their higher studies are those written by foreign authors. How can one expect them to write about things in Indian context. Take the case of MBA education, for all papers majority of the suggested books are by foreign authors. Students hardly find instance of Indian context examples. Barring few, most of the contexts are foreign. You don't teach them about India (the Indian context), you teach them whats happening in western countries and you expect them to apply the tactics and practices in India. How far the logic works out?? And the worst case is that examples quoted in classes or to be written in answer sheets are expected to be of foreign corporates and Indian context examples are not considered. What a shame!!!!

If you tell Tiruppur is the best example of textile manufacturing hub, it is not accepted or recognised. Only Manchester is recognised as a textile hub.

In any education system, students should be taught about their surroundings and their country first. Then they should be taught foreign thoughts. Teach them their country first.

Teaching something written by foreign wizards and not completely educating people about India doesn't serve purpose. Students should be taught about India thoroughly. How many people in this country know about the business generated by Tiruppur or about the place where Ajantha clocks are made?? Few people know about that. Most people do not know because they are not taught about their own country. 

Our education system portrays India as a backward nation depending on foreign thoughts and know-hows. We are not presented the true picture about India. Such a heinous crime has to be stopped.

And who are those in Parliament to decide what I should read?? They decide on a curriculum and scrap it if they face agitation or if it affects their vote bank. A well exposed drama that children are not taught what is true and Govt. is itself providing a "flavour" education. Pity state of affairs of Indian education. People should also come forward to learn about India and her rich legacy

You are not recognised until you know your own mother tongue and the sacred verses of various literature. No fascination studying Shakespeare unless you know the Gita or the Kural.

India falling!!!!!!!!!!

India is an emerging super power. India is a very important strategic partner for the US. India is the rapidly developing economy the world is eagerly watching. India is developing and sets foot in many new areas.

The two mostly accepted political systems, the Communism and Capitalism, have by large failed. Communism failed with the fall of Russia and capitalism is falling with the economic crisis surrounding the United States.

Much has been spoken about the downfall of the Capitalism. Some commentators here feel pride about the fact that capitalism has fallen and that the mixed economic system followed by India is the best system in the world. I seriously disagree with such argument that Capitalism is not the solution for development. One should not view only the economic part of it. Capitalism has only failed economically. The economic crisis has lead to higher unemployment in the US. But as a nation(US), Capitalism has won far more than expected. As a nation US has progressed very well socially, technologywise, strategicwise and in many other areas. People all over the world would amuse over the liberty enjoyed by the people in the US. The kind of liberty enjoyed by the people shows how much educated they are. In US it is not an issue when a person calls US "F***in US". They know that because of such illicit remarks by persons their country's worth wont diminish. Technologywise, US are the leaders in space and military equipment capabilities. They conduct more research and advance to higher levels in science and technology. Be it education, health, space, bureaucrat functioning, military they are matured and well advanced. In all these well being of American people is the main motto. The motto makes them work hard and be a superpower. Post 9/11 no terror strike was carried on America. 9/11 was a jolt to American people and they learnt well from the attack. They did not let it happen again.

India should learn from America. India has not progressed well in all fields. Our education system is based on some recommendations of a british gentleman which he propounded some 150 odd years ago. Legally, our constitution is largely based on british constitution. In healthcare India is the poorest than many under developed countries. Technologywise, we use second hand  and outdated technology of developed countries. The political system is so worse that people cannot even have a Lokpal Bill.  The very political system of India needs change.  This multi party system wont work out well in coming years. If India has to  develop inclusively i.e all walks of people see economic development, it has sit and rethink about its parliamentary system. Rather than setting agenda for five years, there should be a long term agenda. Vision 2020 was a noble approach but India has far before forgot about that. The present system cannot solve the problems of the country. It creates more problems. India needs to restructure its political system and evolve a system which addresses the needs and problems of common man. Then automatically we can achieve a inclusive growth.

And of terror attacks, we are soft targets. India has been victim of terror many times. The military and police capability is poor. Police is strict only on people who smoke in public and on those who return home after watching second show. Terrorists feel that Indians are having weak approach toward terror and they wont be punished even if caught. No security for people here. Only politicians, VVIPs, keeps of the former two, terrorists enjoy security. We people risk our lives and live a living only to die in another terror strike. India's approach towards terrorism is disheartening and funny. Human rights issue arises on a captured terrorist and not on the people who died because of the terrorist activities.

So it is not fascinating to to tell capitalism has fallen. Capitalism has failed as economy but it has progressed very well as a nation. While mixed one has done well as an economy but has failed as a nation. The India today is not the India what our forefathers thought her to be.

CA student and the Deathly Hallows

One of the fascinating profession profession in India is Chartered Accountancy. Its much sought after by students of commerce stream.  CA course is designed into three stages. Each stage has its own difficulty. And there is this internship (articleship in CA terminology) to be completed which is for 42 months. A Intermediate qualified person has to work under a practising CA to be eligible to appear for Final exam. Working under CA shapes students to face hardships and to know more about life. There are many drawbacks in such training system. The post only tries to explain the kind of difficulties faced by  CA students (like me) and an eye opener for aspiring CAs.

1. The stage at which student should go for articleship is modified by ICAI many times. Earlier training is after completing intermediate, then after completing foundation(CPT) itself. Now its back to old times, after finishing Group-I of intermediate. Such structural modifications affects the confidence of the students. The institute  should first be clear on its stand on when to train students. Lack of proper vision is major drawback.
2.Recently graduates have been given exemption from appearing for foundation(CPT). A good move to encourage more people to join. But a big blow for those who cleared CPT and pursuing Inter. I have seen many people clearing CPT after six or seven attempts. After such hard passage, they enter into intermediate level. Now that exemption is given, students feel that their struggle to clear CPT is short lived and has no value now. A friend of mine who quit CA after many failures in CPT has now enrolled to Inter under this exemption while I cleared CPT after many attempts.
3. Articleship training is a great fun but a stressful job. ICAI prescribes 35 hours of working per week. But practically students work for more than 50 hours a week. They have to report to office at 9 or 10 and can leave at 7 or 8. Of course certain offices strictly follow rules. But widely rules are overridden. Its like 3.5 years you have to sweat it out whether u like it or not.
4. Audits are freaking. Where there are audits out of city, students should get ready early and have to catch vehicles of employees at early morning.  Pick up time is before 6.30. Vehicle reaches factory at 8. Those people in factory work from 8 to 5 and so its obvious for students to work with them. Imagine a student undergoing training working for  9 hours a day and literally struck up in audit for 13 hours a day. After doing all this, the student has to prepare for further exams. No other professional course in India is so much challenging.
5. Auditing, in layman terms, is verifying accounts of concern. Auditor is not supposed to modify books of account of the concern.  But in 95% cases students tend to do accounting and auditing. They tend to do changes to accounts when its not in conformity to accounting principles. Not only this they help in filing various statutory returns, which is the duty of the company. The articleship training guidelines mention the scope of training students. But students are doing a hell more of a job than they are supposed to do.
6. The other ugly thing is liasoning govt. offices for registrations like central excise, income tax, sales tax etc. Here one becomes true Indian citizen. Student represent client before authorities and learn how to give bribe. You have to give bribe secretely but before that technically jnow how much bribe is expected by the officer.  Its part of articleship training. A bad precedent on the part of professionals to indulge students in such things. India shining!!!!!
7. At cases during audits, students come across employees of the organization. They are loveable idiots. They know nothing about accounts. Just because there is a position they are recruited. Most of their jobs is done by the student.
8. During internal audits students tend to work with recently qualified CAs who are statutory auditors. While interacting with them during audits, sometimes it is wondered how cum this person completed CA final. They ask silly silly questions during audits. There is one Mr.A who has four Inter attempts to his record and anodr Mr. B who has completed all three stages in first attempt. But practically A tends to outshine B considering his level of working knowledge and learning skills. This is highly inequity. This is what ICAI has done to the nation. Not those with skills and knowledge become CAs but people with knowledge and luck become CAs. There was once a dream which was CA, this is not it.
9. And ICAI by its legislation has the right to modify the result of a candidate considering the overall pass percentage. If pass level is considered high, students who score some ten to twenty marks higher than required become prey and their results are altered that they fail in exams. Seriously dont know how such a system is followed in India by ICAI. The govt. does not interfere in it unless it is strongly raised by public.

These are the various difficulties in CA course. One should think wise before taking CA. He should sacrifice happiness, freedom, rest, sleep, peace and should not at all expect nice warming treatment. Articleship is an agreement between student and CA, an unbreakable vow.  Life for CA student is "agreemented labour".  But once they clear CA having overcome all such hardships, they feel the worst is gone and they can overcome any hard situations in life....

Basic mobile phone...

Mobile phone usage is very different in India. Indians would require longer battery life mobiles basically. Urban people would want to use all feature mobilephone. But whatever be the model, nothing holds good than basic Nokia phone largely priced below 2000 rupees. It is demand is increasing because it can be kept for very rough use. You put it any times down it doesnt break. Hi tech mobiles are gone if it falls once. In this way basic phone is very useful. Even hi-tech people would have a basic phone with them in addition to hi tech fones.. Whatever be the level of technology, basic phones are handy and are of great use. Basic phones are easy to use for elderly people and illiterates. They press green button for incoming call and press red buttton for ending call. THis will be the maximum level of mobile usage among large no of people in rural areas and in small nos in cities too. Kudos to the person who brought out this "Green-Red" idea. India is moving becoz of that.
